June 1st was marked in every Chapel Street trader's calendar. It was the day businesses slowly but surely began to go back to normal.

Chapel Street Precinct Association (CSPA) commemorated the day by working with one of it's most iconic eateries, Caffe E Cucina, opening its doors at the turn of midnight. As the sun came up, beauty salons across Australia’s largest retail precinct were bustling with bookings. CSPA arranged media interviews showcasing the Precinct’s healthy bounce back from restrictions.

If you’re single and looking for love, the coronavirus pandemic will have had an impact.

Perhaps you’ve fully embraced video dating and socially distanced chats. Maybe you’ve gone full-lockdown and are enjoying the thrill of spending time solo. Or you could be so desperate for the touch of another human that you know full well when this is all over you’ll hook up with any adult with a pulse.
According to Dr Scott Lyons, a top US psychologist currently based in Australia, a unique dating environment has blossomed as a result of COVID-19.
He believes that many Aussies have been using time in lockdown to get on top of personal stuff and evaluate what they’re looking for when it comes to love.

“There will be a boom in relationships that will ‘last the distance’ post-quarantine,” he says. “Australians are more emotionally perceptive of themselves now.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced that from June 22, indoor cinemas, concert venues, theatres and stadiums can reopen with up to 50 seated patrons per space. Miao, who owns Prahran small theatre The MC Showroom, said it was "brilliant news" and it would be "a big relief" for artists to perform again. ''It's a green light for people in the industry to start to make some plans."

Miao will try running dinner theatre nights with audiences sitting at tables of two. They will order takeaway food and in turn support local restaurants. Zule Khan, Melbourne Comedian, said staging a dinner theatre was "a really good idea" as long as audience members were kept at a distance from one another and perhaps asked on entry if they had COVID-19 symptoms.

Drive-In Entertainment showcased how COVID-Safe live performances work with a free concert for Sydneysiders in Tempe. Casey Donovan performed the headlining act to over 40 cars, with up & coming artist Cass Hopetoun as the support act.

The performance was a huge success, with support from local councils and the police, Drive in Entertainment is looking to be the premier COVID-Safe entertainment in the years to come.

In its simplest form, the concept is a drive in theatre – where patrons enjoy shows from the comfort and safety of their own car with audio being broadcasted by an FM radio signal to your car’s surround-sound speakers, which will sync with the sound stage. The intimacy we all look for in live performances is still present but with a modern day twist of being live-streamed to the cars via Zoom, allowing the audience to interact with artists and vis-versa in real time. And the rapture of applause can be made bigger with car horns going off and wind screen wipers swaying in unison.

The Chapel Street Precinct Association has launched Chap Drive Thru to help stay open in tough times and give consumers a new way to pick up their takeaway. More than 200 cafes and restaurants across South Yarra, Prahran and Windsor, which make up Australia's largest retail and entertainment precinct, have created the world's largest drive-thru at 2.8km.

Takeaways and delivery orders have been part of the Australian restaurant landscape since COVID regulations came into force in March. But Chapel Street Precinct Association (CSPA) general manager Chrissie Maus says delivery apps take a disproportionate percentage of sales which is hurting local restaurateurs.
