Australia’s most advanced ATMs are being rolled out across the country, featuring world first technology that will allow people who prefer cash, to operate in the digital world.

The past 12 months has seen digital payments taking centre stage due to COVID, to the demise of people who prefer cash. These new ATMs have inbuilt note acceptors that will bridge the gap, allowing features that have never been offered with Australian ATMs. The feature being launched this week is the ability to donate cash via the ATM to your favourite charity

Hero lifeguard Scott Burgess revealed how to identify a rip but said the best way to avoid one is to stay between flags and only swim during the day. A rip might have deeper and darker water with fewer breaking waves, there may be seaweed or debris floating out to sea or sandy-coloured water that extends beyond the surf zone, he said.

Mr Burgess also said there were three factors contributing to the Australian's drowning so far this swimming season.

'If you're drinking don't go swimming, please don't swim at night, swim between the flags,' he warned.

'All three of those contributing factors have been in play when we've lost people recently.

A Melbourne bakery got creative ahead of Australia Day celebrations, creating perhaps the most patriotic dish of all time- a Vegemite lamington!

Creator Tegan Milner, of South Yarra's Snow White Bakery, was the brains behind the dish, which she describes as a 'dense chocolate cake that's covered in a rich Vegemite and dark chocolate ganache and rolled through coconut then sandwiched together with homemade raspberry jam and finished off with generous amounts of Vegemite and chocolate ganache.'

Robots Invade Chapel Street Precinct

In a first for Melbourne, 17 metre tall Space Robots made from upcycled industrial waste will invade Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street Precinct in a spectacular show of force that will become a must-visit free attraction for families across Melbourne and Australia. The out-of-this-world open air exhibition called Robot SPACEland will call the famous precinct home between January 14 - 31, 2021. These ‘guests’ will commandeer four unique locations – Grattan Gardens, 402 Chapel Street (worksite), the new Prahran Square, and the Chapel Off Chapel forecourt.

“We’ve literally reached into a new stratosphere of creativity to bring our huge Robot SPACEland activation to life in partnership with the City of Stonnington,” said Chrissie Maus, General Manager, of Chapel Street Precinct. “We can’t wait to introduce these larger-than-life intergalactic creatures to Melburnians in January, which will help boost the local economy around them!”

Four giant robots are set to wow families on a famous Melbourne shopping strip. The Chapel Street Precinct has partnered with Stonnington Council to bring the 17m-high robots to four hot spots in Prahran and South Yarra for its Robot SPACEland initiative.

The Herald Sun took exclusive pictures of workers using 60m cranes to install the robots - Eco Bot, Arch of Evolution, Barrel of Transformation and Spaceship - ahead of their debut.
