Parents invent a quirky app that will only unlock your child's phone if they can answer a math question

Issac and Ann Elnekave have launched 1Question, an app that can be linked between parents and their child's phones as a sort of childlock that can be opened by answering educational questions. 1Question has recently been featured in both The Today Show and the Daily Mail.

The Today’s Show’s tech expert Trevor Long named 1Question as a viable solution to changing children’s screen-habits.

Mr Yum gears up for QR code ‘land grab’

Our client Mr. Yum made a big announcement today - it recently banked $11 million dollars in post-seed investment.

The investment was led by Brisbane venture firm TEN13, with AirTree taking the other major position. Heavy hitters from the tech, hospitality and entertainment industry also participated in the round, including US based Australian NBA-star Patty Mills of the San Antonio Spurs, internationally acclaimed electronic dance artists Rüfüs Du Sol and Shark Tank’s Andrew Banks.

Hospitality venues that use Mr. Yum's QR code ordering services have seen a 20-40% increase in customer spending and the company itself has seen business increase twenty seven times more than usual.

Investors appear to be behind Andre Eikmeier's start-up Good Empire which has attracted $605,000 in equity funding through Birchal crowdfunding.

Mr Eikmeier says 58 per cent of the investors are women and "they are also investing larger amounts than their male counterparts".

"Having been involved in the start-up world for over a decade now, I know the imbalance and how far we have to go to empower female founders and investors, and I know some good women and organisations working on this.

“To see us not only at 58 per cent of investors identifying as women, but also at 66 per cent of the funds raised from women – it’s awesome, and promising."
