Natalie Leggott, 29, bared all to raise awareness of skin cancer that nearly killed her shortly after her one-year-old son Leo was born. Diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in 2022, the paediatric nurse is expected to be one of more than 2000 swimmers who will participate in Sunday’s nude swimming race, the Sydney Skinny.

Organisers hope the event, held from 7am at Cobbler’s Beach in Middle Head, will break records for the world’s largest nude swim while raising funds for the non-profit Skin Check Champions.

Old Young’s Distillery in the Swan Valley set crowdfunding records on Tuesday night after offering everyday punters the opportunity to hold a stake in its $32 million company as part of its plans to fast track the company’s expansion.

The company achieved its $2.7 million target via equity crowdfunding platform Birchal in just 23 hours, making Old Young’s equity crowdfunding’s the biggest WA raise and the biggest raise in Australia this financial year. It is also the biggest alcohol raise ever in Australia.

Over 2, 500 people are set to strip off for a vital cause in the world’s largest annual nude swim to be held in Sydney. The much-loved annual Sydney Skinny event, which is returning from a three year Covid hiatus, is on track to break the 2018 world record for the largest every skinny dip of 2, 505 people in Ireland.

The event will support the Skin Check Champions charity and program, which works to encourage all Australians to get their skin checked for cancer regularly. Australian singer and songwriter Casey Burgess, best known as a member of the iconic Hi-5, will join the pack raising awareness of melanoma and the early detection of skin cancer.

Established in October 2020 by Ben Simpson, the seed funding comes from high-profile investors, which includes JPMorgan backed RNR Capital in San Francisco. Collective Shift’s impressive balance sheet of 7000+ members paying between $200 and $2000 a year was a key drawcard for the high profile investors in the seed round.  Collective Shift has strategically developed an international cap table to help with its international expansion.  JPMorgan backed RNR Capital (San Francisco) will add substantial value to Collective Shift via its experience in investing in to early stage Silicon Valley companies. Other high profile investors include Smorgan Capital (Australia), Petrock Capital (Singapore) as well as Family Offices & Angel Investors.

Stars from the AFL and NRL are getting behind a new Nutri-Grain campaign to reduce beach drownings this summer. A record 141 coastal drowning deaths occurred on Aussie beaches last year. Drownings are 3 – 4 times more likely to occur on summer public holidays, with men 9 x more likely to drown than women. There are fears the upcoming holiday break could be our deadliest summer yet. Geelong’s AFL Premiership winning captain, Joel Selwood, and Melbourne Storm star, Harry Grant, did a live-cross with Sunrise this morning to kick off the campaign for Kellogg’s and Surf Life Saving Australia
