While Melbourne’s CBD hospitality scene struggles post-COVID, Chapel Street is proving to be the city’s glimmer of hope. Melburnians who continue to work from home have kept the strip’s retail, dining, gyms, health centres, beauticians and hairdressers buzzing to pre-COVID levels. 

Chrissie Maus, General Manager of the Chapel Street Precinct Association, talked to Frank Chung of News.com.au about the buoyant recovery. With a spike in cafes and restaurants opening in the last six months and a busy spring/summer to look forward to, she says it’s just like the good old days.

Perth mum and entrepreneur, Renae Bunster of Shit the Bed Hot Sauce fame is back with another controversial product, ‘The Bloody Karen’. The Bloody Mary premix cocktail honours Karens and all the good work they do - however the sentiment isn’t being shared by retailers who are refusing to stock the cocktail in fears of being cancelled.

Time for Australia to switch to smart coffee cups!

In a bid to curb Australia’s single use plastic addiction, a reusable coffee cup exchange program has kicked off with unique world first QR code technology. The program is genius because it recruits unwanted op shop cups and gives them a second chance at life, rather than adding the world’s overproduction problem, which would traditionally use new cups. DL COMMS client, Our Kinds, scans and counts the cup as it is reused, producing a collective number to show how many takeaway cups and lids are being saved. The company has already saved almost 60,000 single use cups during the pilot program.
